GetDataBack is read-only, meaning the program does not attempt to write to the drive you are about to recover.
Note: If you are going to perform a recovery, DO NOT install this software, or anything else, on the drive you want to recover. Connect the drive containing the lost data as a second drive to a well-prepared machine.

GetDataBack Pro runs as a native 64-bit application under 64-bit Windows or as a 32-bit application under 32-bit Windows. The minimal Windows version is Windows Vista.
Do not write anything to the drive you want to recover the data from! That includes installing programs, surfing the internet, or even booting from that drive. Instead, attach the drive as a second drive to a working system. Install and run GetDataBack on the healthy system.
Read the page about How to Do a Data Recovery Right.
If you suspect that your drive may have a physical problem or if you get read errors during the scan with GetDataBack, consider making an image of the drive first. If your drive has severe physical problems, we strongly recommend that you refrain from all do-it-yourself data recovery attempts and send the drive to a specialized lab.
Scanning an external drive can be very time consuming, especially when using USB. If possible, remove the drive from its enclosure and attach it directly to your computer's internal SATA cable. Please search the internet for help on how to do this.
